Nadya Shah graduated from Central Saint Martins, having specialized in womenswear and textiles, before manifesting the London-based Ready-to-Wear line, Nadya Shah. “My work is an exciting journey of observation and discovery,” notes Shah. “From architecture, to flocked wallpaper, old Cecil Beaton books or vintage ornamentation, I am constantly inspired by the paradox of old and new. I love experimenting with new techniques and embroideries to create timeless outerwear with a contemporary edge, that resonates on a personal level.”

It is with that notion, that Shah debuted a collection replete with flattering capes and blazers adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishment. With craftsmanship derived from the work of skillmakers’ hands in Asia, the collection pieces take weeks to complete. Ethically produced, the embroiderers learn new skills and are constantly evolving techniques to create experimental detail, whilst maintaining a long-standing tradition.

Nadya Shah’s blazers deliver modern romance at its peak. Shah’s incorporation of ethereal themes within the collection, including romantic florals, modern military and Aztec patterns, make for eclectic combinations. Fine fabrics among the likes of silk, wool and velvet are embellished with exquisite embroideries, or adorned with delicate hardware, including pearls, sequins, beading and metal wiring.

With a semblance of tradition, the blazers are traveled seamlessly from day to night, and act as elaborate heirloom pieces for the urban female.
